First 12 Months
No continuing education credits are required during the first 12 months of certification.
Continuing Education & Certification Renewal
Certification is the beginning of professional development — not the end.

No continuing education credits are required during the first 12 months of certification.
Active members complete 1.0 CEC — 10 hours of continuing education — annually.
Standard: $25/year; applicable CEC requirements also apply. Premier: $125 one-time upgrade after certification; no future annual dues; CECs remain required.
Relevant professional development may include fitness courses, workshops, CPR/AED education, exercise science, program design, cardiovascular training, strength and bodybuilding, sport-specific training, assessment, screening, weight management, nutrition, mobility, group fitness, wellness, injury prevention, risk reduction, and exercise modification, special populations, business, and other appropriate professional development. Submissions are reviewed by NIEW.
NIEW does not charge members to submit CECs for review, and NIEW provides opportunities to earn required continuing education at no additional cost. Outside providers may charge their own fees.
Within two years of lapse, reinstatement requires the $100 reinstatement fee, missed CECs, and any applicable outstanding Standard dues/current renewal requirements. Premier members do not owe annual dues but still complete the reinstatement and continuing-education requirements. After two years, ordinary reinstatement is unavailable and current enrollment/certification requirements apply.
